What Age is Best Suited to a Bunk Bed?

We recommend bunk beds for children of ages 4 and up, although we would only recommend children aged six and over, who are confident climbing the ladder, venture up to the top bunk. If your children are prone to climbing out of bed in the night, safely ascending and descending the ladder is a must for safe bunking.

Good news though, we have no upper age limit, our bunk beds are totally safe for adults! Lower bunks are tested for weights of up to 15 stone / 95kg, while top bunks are suitable up 12 stone / 76kg.

We know all too well how one minute a bunk bed is an absolute must have for anyone who's anyone... then the next moment bunking is so last year. (Trust us, we design from our own experiences, thanks kids!) That's why our brilliant bunks can be ingeniously split back into two single beds with minimum effort. When that inevitable chat about bedroom redecoration comes calling - and doesn't it happen far too regularly when they reach their teens! - next time you'll be one step ahead with two beautiful single beds in your arsenal. Oh, and should the time come when bunks are back in, putting them back together is a cinch. We've had customer testimonials tell us that their bunks have taken more forms over the years than they can count!

Did Someone Call for Triple Bunk Beds?

Okay, so we might be cheating a little here, but did you know that all of our wooden Bunk Beds can actually accomodate three sleepers with the addition of a handy Trundle Bed? In beautiful matching colourways these rollout sleepover beds tuck neatly between the bed legs, to be rolled out and stored away again in seconds. If just regular bunk beds for two are up to the job, why not maximise storage with the addition of our Underbed Storage Drawers.

What Is the Difference Between a Bunk Bed Mattress and a Regular Mattress?

The top bunk of a bunk bed requires a reduced height Bunk Bed Mattress to meet the EC height safety regulations. The reduced height allows for sufficient depth of the bunk bed safety rails, which prevents any rolling out at night. The bottom bunk can be fitted with either a reduced-height bunk bed mattress or a standard full-sized single mattress. One thing we recommend thinking about is if you intend to use the bunks as single beds in the future, getting two reduced-height bunk bed mattresses will prevent your beds from looking different, avoiding any potential arguments down the line!
